Michael Maris Associates, Inc. was established in 1987 to provide services in traffic and transportation consulting. Our client list includes municipalities and other governmental agencies and some of the largest development and corporate firms in the country. We have more than 30 years of experience in the

 

transportation field and have been qualified as experts in numerous states and several hundred municipalities. Since its inception, the firm has added parking design and preparation of highway and signal construction documents to its expertise. Throughout the years, the firm has been recognized as an expert in the development field and has worked on numerous projects throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

The officers of MMA include Michael Maris, President, John Maris Vice President, and Aristotle Spyropoulos Vice President.

 

Michael Maris has more than 50 years of experience during which period
he has worked on numerous projects around the United States. He has been accepted as an expert in 15+ states
and hundreds of municipalities, as well as several courts of law. John Maris has more than 20 years of experience in transportation consulting, during which period he has been responsible charge of numerous projects and has qualified as a transportation expert in several municipalities. Aristotle Spyropoulos is a licensed Professional Engineer with a PhD degree in Computer Science.

Bios

Michael Maris has more than 50 years of experience
as a traffic and parking consultant. He completed courses
in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and Architecture at Pratt Institute, where he received
a degree in Building Sciences. He is a Fellow and Life Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers
and a Member of ITE’s Expert Witness Council.

Since forming MMA, he has been responsible
for administrative and technical aspects of the firm,
including project management/coordination, client
liaison, and governmental approvals. He has worked
on numerous large and small projects throughout
the United States for private developers, architectural
and engineering firms, large corporations, and governmental entities.

He has been qualified as a traffic and parking expert
and provided expert testimony in fifteen States
and hundreds of municipalities, as well as several
Courts of Law. He has also been a traffic and parking consultant to several municipalities in New York
and New Jersey.

 

John Maris has been with MMA since 1996
and has more than 20 years of experience as a traffic
and parking consultant. He attended Cook College, Rutgers University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Ecology and completed courses in Civil Engineering Technology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Post Graduate courses in Transportation Engineering at New Jersey Instituteof Technology.
He is a Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

As Vice President of MMA, his principal responsibilities
consist of supervision of projects, including data
collection, client coordination, analyses, and report preparation. During his tenure at MMA, he has worked on numerous traffic impact and parking studies for large and small projects in the northeast section of the United States.

He has been qualified as a traffic and parking expert
and provided expert testimony in several New York and
New Jersey municipalities and has been a consultant to several municipalities.

 

Aristotle Spyropoulos has a 30-year long career
in the Engineering and Computer Science fields.
He has worked on traffic/transportation engineering
companies in the United States and Europe. He also
has extensive experience in reinforced concrete
structures. His recent work has been on computer vision
algorithms pertaining to autonomous driving using
machine learning methodologies.

He received his Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering
from the National Technical University of Athens
(NTUA), Greece, and his MSc in Computer Science
from New York University (NYU). He also earned
a PhD Degree in Computer Science from Stevens
Institute of Technology with research interests
in computer vision. He has published several papers
on Computer Vision at journals and has presented
his research at US and international conferences.

He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in several states,
a Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers
and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
